Timeline Of A Cell Phone to Cell Phone Mail Voice Greeting

1935-A Mr. Edwin H. Armstrong develops Frequency Modulation, and the first step towards our modern cell phone takes place.

1935 to 1945 the first hand held portable two-way radio system becomes a reality.

1946 Mobile Radio telephones are introduced and the forerunner of what we would consider the beginning of a cell phone service company is started.

1947 1) Cellular idea is born when it is discovered that by using low powered transmitters
in small cells allows frequencies to be reused in non-adjacent cells with out audio
interference.

         2) The FCC approves the citizen band radio service and the demand for hand held CB radios causes a rapid expansion in the area of portable radios and is the beginning ides behind the system we have today.

1950 to 1958 1) Engineers and researchers continue to explore the cellular concept and
publish papers explaining their work although the FCC refuses to allocate more frequencies mobile radios.
1959 to 1969 1) AT&T revives the cellular concept and begins work on it in earnest.
           2) The FCC begins the study of congestion in the area of mobile radio usage while
still refusing any new spectrum expansion of mobile radio frequencies.

1970 to 1980 1) The FCC finally opens the door to real cellular service by allowing AT&T to
test the concept of real cellular commission in urban conditions in Newark and Philadelphia.
Who Invented the First Cell Phone at least as we know it "Dr. Martin Cooper"?
The First real mobile phone call is made on a Motorola analogue prototype in 1973 by Dr. Martin Cooper.
           2) The FCC authorizes the construction of two experimental systems in Chicago and Baltimore.
           3) Bell Lab applies for Patent 36633762 the Mobile Communication System.
               4) A report is filed that covers not just technology of a cellular system and
its costs, but includes coverage, growth capacity, service features, along with a customer
opinion survey on quality which had never been done before.
            5) First in Chicago and second in Baltimore, the FCC grants licenses that
authorize construction of two cellular systems that allows a partnership between Cellular
One
and Motorola.
             6) Bell Labs supplies the final keys to a fully automated cellular phone system
that is fully Mobil.  They have developed Low-cost frequency synthesizers along with
microprocessor-based hand off system with fully digital switching between cell towers.
1980 to 1989 1) FCC adopts rules creating a commercial cellular radio telephone service.
              2) In 1983 two things happen one, in Baltimore and Washington the pilot system
run by ARTS in partnership with Motorola begins operation and secondly in Chicago a
commercial cellular system of Illinois Bell begins operating virtually at the same time.
              3) By the mid Eighties true competition between cell phone companies has
begun.
              4) Overload of cellular systems is fast becoming a reality in the major cities
on both coast of the U.S. The problems with cell splitting and the costs involve have become an obstacle sooner that ever expected.
              5) The FCC adopts rules creating strict guild lines to try and control this
fast growing industry of commercial cell phone service.

1990 to 1999 1) Cellular Subscriber count tops 11 million.
               2) Permits for construction have been issued for at least cellular system in
every market in the United States.
               3) PCS frequency bands are approved by the FCC, allowing a flock of new
competitors to fast evolving cellular market.
              4) The 2G system of cellular communication is developed which allows operation
at a different frequency which permits the construction of much smaller hand held more
efficient devices we have today.
              5) SMS messaging has been introduced into the commercial cell phone market
              6) By the late 1990’s the number of cell phone users has grown to over 40
million a number far exceeding all expectations.
2000 to 2009 1) SMS messaging and or Text Messaging if you will has become the preferred method of communication among teen cell phone users.
               2) The 2G system is upgraded to the 2.5G system, but is not able to produce
the desired data and multimedia capabilities that were expected.
               3) The 3G system arrives on the communication scene and is met with mixed
reviews, some are not sure of its commercial marketability.
               4) By late 2007 the question of marketability of a 3G phone has been answered
over 9% of the new phones sold worldwide are 3G phones with a number reaching over 290 million user and a figure of over 110 Million dollars in revenue.
               5) The cell phone industry has given rise to a whole new word search
vocabulary on the Internet. Terms like “Cell Phone Voice Mail Greetings”, “Cell Phone Wallpaper”, “Free Cell Phone Ring Tones”, “Tom Mabe Echo In My Cell Phone”, “Reverse Cell Phone Directory”, “Funny Cell Phone Greetings”, to “Christian Cell Phone Ring Tones” and "Trace Cell Phone Numbers Free" are just a few terms that are being searched everyday that were unheard of before. One other question searched numerous times on the internet today is "Who Invented The Cell Phone" it is surprising how many people want to know cell phone facts. Not only is the number of cell phones for sale huge the cell phone has spawned a whole new related industry. The marketing of cell phone accessories, cell phone batteries, cell phone wallpaper, cell phone text message alerts, and cell phone family plans runs into millions of dollars every year.
               6) What some experts believe to be the next generation of cell phone
marketing development
